Excitment

June 10, 2007 by Heidi

I am so thrilled for Blake. For the past several weeks he has been really down in the dumps and missing his old school. He was missing it because he doesn’t have any friends here.My son isn’t exactly outgoing and isn’t going to ask anyone to play with him or have anyone over. He is a perfectionist worry wart. Its so sad most of the time to sit and watch him worry about such little things.

We have been in this town for a little over a year now and he still hadn’t made any friends. The one friend he did have I had to make it clear that he isn’t to play with him if he can help it. That certain little boy had called my daughter a bitch and threatened to kill her and he wasn’t allowed over here after the 2nd time he came. He is really just a mean kid. Yet I feel so sorry for him because he just doesn’t have a family life and their priorities are different than mine and I won’t subject my children to evil. Blake is still nice to this little kid and takes his phone calls but he will not be coming over. That I think made Blake a little sad since he is the only one that calls or asks Blake to do anything. Little did he know that his loneliness was about the end..

He is playing baseball right now and taking swim lessons.. I was talking to a mom last week at the baseball game and her son is so nice and friendly and has been real nice to Blake. (Although at every practice Blake has to wait for the coach or the coaches youngest son to come play catch cuz everyone else won’t catch with him). She was also commenting on how this town is terrible to kids who are new and that her son had a real hard time of it when they first moved here as well. They have been here 2 years. Gunnar called that Thursday night and Blake went over to his house yesterday. He had a ball and I think the pair of them are onto a great friendship.

Today Blake has also been invited to a birthday party and he is so excited. I am so excited for him as well. I hate watching my son suffer yet I am so proud of him for being strong and knowing that playing with kids who are nice are best to stay away from. He has told me since kindergarten that he would rather play by himself than play with kids who are mean. I am glad that doors are opening up for my little guy. Its been a definite challenge I believe that is about to end.
